Youth sports are a fun and engaging way to practice our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. Youth sports and play programs at the Y are the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. The YMCA of Greater Williamson County offers a variety of sports to meet all the wants and needs of kids in the community.
Experts say that sports can be a crucial part of any child’s development. It teaches them how to communicate and work in a team setting, grow their social skills, and grow their passion. Sports give a healthy outlet to let off stress and even present an opportunity for future scholarships. Engaging with sports encourages a respect for authority and rules as well, instilling a sense of responsibility. Not to mention you can begin bonding with your child and learning and practicing the sport with them. It is a great way to keep active while bringing new friendships to your children.
Sports can also help with developing memory and practicing repetition and learning. Sports also insight goal setting and better determination. Sports boost self-worth and give them the first feelings of what it means to meet a goal in a new way. Also, the feeling of knowing they have accomplished something and worked successfully in a team. Sports push them to make healthier decisions in order to keep playing successfully, with a little bit of activity.
Join them by getting involved at the Y with our adult sports programs.
