Martial Arts are active classes to help you to get involved and moving. Martial arts is an assortment of ancient practices that have a rich and interesting history. The knowledge you will learn in these classes will be irreplaceable. Each person will start with the basic skills or depending upon their skill level. Its enjoyable to be with others of the same interests, skill level, and age. As you grow with others to achieve your personal goals. You learn a combination of various cultures and histories as you learn ancient ways of combat. This will teach lessons in discipline, balance, and focus to provide you with the best possible results.
At the YMCA of GWC, we focus on emphasizing discipline, mental attitude, goal setting and respect in every youth martial arts class. All martial arts classes are grouped by age and skill level. Martial arts classes begin and end with warm-ups, stretching, and meditation. Participants learn beginning skills for striking, blocking, and movement in addition to proper falling techniques and practical self-defense techniques.
Strength: Students can become stronger, flexibility, confidence and self-esteem while developing overall physical fitness. As students progress, they will learn to coordinate speed and power, and develop the concentration to focus all of your body’s strength into a small, hard striking surface with the hand or the heel of the foot.
Self-Defense: Knowing you can defend yourself, your confidence will grow. Students of all ages can apply the lessons learned to maintaining their personal safety.
Self-Confidence: As you accomplish new goals, your confidence level increases. It instills a sense of discipline and self-confidence that can carry over to all aspects of your life.
