At our various strength training class, you will improve your muscular strength, balance, and enhance your endurance through a series of levels. During these classes, you will use a variety of equipment to help you become stronger.

Strength Training classes build endurance and develop coordination and balance. You can expect to use a variety of different equipment such as weights, bands, balls and other tools to get stronger and leaner. The Y offers a variety of strength training classes that combine the benefits of building strength with the motivation and positive atmosphere of a group exercise class. These classes will increase your muscle endurance, enhance your cardiovascular ability and will develop coordination and balance.

If you are new to YMCA Strength Training classes, welcome! YMCA instructors are here to help and make sure you feel comfortable and welcome, so ask questions. Remember, everyone was new at some point. Wear comfortable clothes that move with you, sneakers and a water bottle. A hair tie will be handy for those with long hair to keep it out of your eyes when working out.


Les Mills’ original barbell class. This one-hour workout strengthens your entire body by challenging all of your major muscle groups with the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight will inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast! Of note, no entry is permitted once class begins.

TRX Suspension Training

This revolutionary total-body fitness program uses gravity against an individual’s own body weight to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously while using the TRX Suspension Trainer – a highly portable performance training tool that is suspended from an anchor point on the wall, ceiling, tree or park swing. This class is all core all the time.


This Les Mills program features three unique team training focuses that will push you to your max and beyond. With your coach right down on the floor with you, you won’t believe how hard you can work out. Your 30 minutes of intense challenge established by your motivating and certified coach will be set to explosive music to send your energy levels through the roof!

FIT X-Treme

This high intermediate to advanced non-stop, powerhouse workout will challenge your muscles in a whole new way. You will use a variety of tools and your workout will be different every class.

Boot Camp

This class is about improving your strength and stamina through a rugged workout. Class consists of sports drills, weights, jumping rope, boxing, circuits and interval training. This class can be designed especially for events such as weddings, reunions, postnatal and other milestones. Move through energizing circuits carefully designed to deliver a total body experience!


BODYATTACK™ is the sports-inspired cardio workout for building strength and stamina. This high-energy interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercises. Dynamic instructors and powerful music motivate everyone towards their fitness goals – from the weekend athlete to the hard-core competitor! Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYATTACK™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.


This Les Mills program combines moves and stances developed from a range of self-defense disciplines such as karate, boxing, Tai Chi and kickboxing. It is a fiercely energetic experience taught in a safe and simplistic manner. Designed to fight fat and kick calories, it is a great cardiovascular workout that’s all out fun for one hour.


This 30-minute class will review all of the fundamentals of weight-lifting with regard to positions, weight selection and structure of class, while also giving you some time to practice. This is a great intro class for those who are new to weight-lifting, have never tried BODYPUMP™ or those who need to brush up on technique.


This Les Mills program, which is based on cutting-edge scientific research, is the ultimate way to get a tight and toned core. With dynamic training that hones in on your abs, glutes, back, obliques and ‘slings’, which connect the upper and lower body, this 30-minute workout will leave you looking good and feeling strong.
