If you are an Active Older Adult, the YMCA of Greater Williamson County has exactly the type of programs and events that you have been searching for. From fitness to family and community, we have something for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.
Our Active Older Adult Classes concentrate on improving strength and flexibility so daily living activities become easier. It’s a fun way for people ages 55+ to stay in shape and increase social interaction. Our goal is to engage members and help keep them motivated to improve their own health and well-being. Classes are welcome to both SilverSneaker and YMCA Members. Come try a class today!!
SilverSneakers is a free fitness program for seniors that’s helping millions of boomers and beyond defy the odds, shatter stereotypes and answer every challenge with, “I can do this!” Take classes that are right for you. From low impact to high intensity, there’s a gym class designed for every level.
Senior Circuit Class
This Senior Circuit Class is a specialty class designed specifically for our active older adults, both male and female. This 45 minute workout will consists of alternating stations of weights and cardio including a warm up, abs, specialty work on gate, agility and flexibility followed by a cool down and stretching. Classes will meet in the Loft on Wednesdays at 12pm on six week cycles. Any fitness level is welcome. See the current Active Older Adults Newsletter for session dates and prices.
Senior Stretch Class
This stretching class will help you move through daily life with more energy, less pain, greater ease, and better focus. We will be using techniques that release excess tension while strengthening postures that hold your body in balance. We will be getting on the floor for deeper stretches not achievable in a chair. Class meets on Tuesdays in the Studio from 3:30-4pm on six week cycles.
Senior Fitness Evaluation
If you are age 55 or older, this is a great tool to ensure you are maintaining an exercise regimen that will help you stay fit, strong, healthy and moving as you get older. Meet one on one with Lauren to learn all the areas of fitness you should be practicing at a level and schedule that works best for you. Consists of one 30 minute initial and one 30 minute follow up consultation.
