COVID-19 has brought new sets of challenges. We have adapted and changed our procedures to ensure that our members remain happy, healthy and engaged. We would like to welcome you back by reminding you of the importance of keeping the Y in your life.

 

Getting Exercise is Good for you

 

The Y provides numerous wellness centers and areas to work out and get exercise. Exercise is the perfect way to get your body moving and blood flowing, giving you energy and even boosting happiness. There are numerous ways exercising can improve your mind, body, and spirit.

 

Increases Your Happiness- Working out can increase your happiness by boosting the production of endorphins. It reduces symptoms of anxiety perceptions of pain. Exercise also improves feelings of anxiety and depression. It can also boost your energy levels as well, bringing you out of dark and dreary feelings. It also promotes better sleep and relaxation.

 

Weight Loss Benefits- Exercise can also help with weight loss. Combined with a healthy diet, exercise can be the perfect way to lose weight. Along with this you can reduce your risk of heart disease and high blood pressure, and decrease blood fat levels. Continuing exercise not only burns calories but can increase your metabolism, the rate at which you burn calories.

 

Boost Brain and Body Health- Exercise is shown to promote healthy flood flow and oxygen to your brain. It even stimulates the production of hormones that improves brain cell growth. Exercising reduces your risk for chronic diseases, thus protecting your brain from degenerative diseases that may affect it.

Right now, this may seem a little lost on us. No longer can we have large get-togethers. At Greater Williamson County YMCA, we still want to give you the community feel and in doing so, strive to maintain the safety and health of our members. We have introduced numerous precautions and new procedures to ensure that you can still get all the benefits of the Y without putting yourself at increased risk. We offer a variety of virtual programs if you’re looking for a slower transition back. At the Y, we take pride in knowing that we can support our community with the right precautions and providing you with all the reasons to keep the Y in your life.
